[Hiring] Subsidence Consultant @Crawford & Company

Role Description

We’re looking for our next Subsidence Consultant: someone that has the technical and insurance knowledge to manage a caseload of domestic and commercial subsidence claims from start to finish or a desire to develop into this role with support under our award winning SMART training programme.

Responsibilities

• Attend visits from claimants who have reported signs of Subsidence.
• Manage insurance claims, approximately 60% domestic and 40% commercial, up to £100K in value.
• Survey the property, investigate the damage, and diagnose the cause of movement.
• Report on specific details and provide feedback to Subsidence teams within specific timeframes for swift settlement.

For Development Consultants

• Participate in a full training programme covering building construction, defects diagnosis, insurance principles, and policy liability matters.
• Diagnose damage through site visits or virtual assessments with support from mentors.
• Prepare reports for clients regarding property damage and insurance matters.
• Direct necessary investigations to confirm causation of damage and required repairs.
• Receive support and funding to achieve Chartered membership of institutions such as CIOB or RICS.
• Gain insurance qualifications from Cert CII / Cert CILA to Chartered status (ACILA or ACII).

Qualifications

• Experienced Surveyor, ideally specialising in Subsidence.
• Technical expert with problem-solving skills related to buildings and structures.
• Experienced in investigating and repairing damaged buildings, including subsidence movement.
• Ideally chartered or approaching chartered status with a relevant institution: ICE, IStructE, RICS, CIOB.
• Experience in insurance claims handling is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
• Able to demonstrate a decisive approach.
• Computer literate with most Microsoft packages.
• Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of domestic construction.
• Knowledgeable with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Home-based role encompassing Subsidence Field Operations nationwide.
• Regular UK travel and occasional overnight stays required; more frequent travel may be necessary during peak demand.

For Development Consultants

• Relevant construction qualification such as Building Surveying, Construction Management, or Structural Engineering, ideally at degree level.
• Demonstrable experience within the insurance industry will also be considered.
• A desire to learn about construction and insurance.
• Commitment to progress with professional qualifications up to Chartered status.
• Able to demonstrate a decisive and ‘can do’ approach.
• Computer literate with most Microsoft packages.
• Full UK Driving License.
