Role Description

Join Amgen’s Mission of Serving Patients. At Amgen, if you feel like you’re part of something bigger, it’s because you are. Our shared mission—to serve patients living with serious illnesses—drives all that we do.

In this vital role you will report to the AVP of Corporate Affairs for Obesity and Related Conditions (OaR) and own the operating model and ongoing capabilities for the OaR Corporate Affairs team. You will enable the delivery of OaR Corporate Affairs priorities by:

  • Developing an integrated approach across workstreams.
  • Establishing a clear cadence for execution.
  • Measuring progress and impact.
  • Creating a continuous feedback loop to refine plans and improve outcomes.

As a strategic partner to the AVP, you will support the ecosystem and stakeholder engagement strategy in partnership with accountable cross-functional leaders and build the AI, digital and information-ecosystem capabilities the OaR team needs.

You will work in close partnership with the Corporate Affairs Launch Enablement Lead for Obesity and Related Conditions, who contributes Corporate Affairs readiness to the integrated U.S. launch plan.

Responsibilities

  • Internal engagement planning: Own an integrated plan that connects employees to Corporate Affairs strategy, priority activities and key decisions. Shape leadership narratives, channels and events, and establish measures of understanding, engagement and adoption.
  • External engagement strategy: Partner with accountable cross-functional leaders to identify, map and prioritize stakeholders and engagement opportunities. Set an appropriate engagement cadence, coordinate execution, and track actions, owners, next steps and outcomes against portfolio priorities.
  • Ecosystem strategy and coordination: Lead Corporate Affairs ecosystem work, connecting internal priorities, external stakeholders and cross-functional initiatives into an integrated approach with clear ownership, sequencing and intended outcomes.
  • Priority planning and focus: Translate leadership priorities into integrated quarterly and rolling 3-, 6-, 9- and 12-month plans. Sequence the highest-value activities, clarify ownership and identify resource recommendations.
  • Team performance and accountability: Establish the operating cadence and dashboards used to track commitments, outcomes, dependencies and risks. Surface trade-offs early and drive follow-through, escalation and corrective action.
  • Cross-functional leadership alignment: Represent Corporate Affairs in planning and leadership forums, align priorities and decision points, and resolve or escalate dependencies that could impede business-critical work.
  • Capability, AI and technology enablement: Identify capability gaps and lead an enablement roadmap that prepares the function to deliver priority work. Apply AI and technology to improve planning, insight generation, content, collaboration and productivity, with clear adoption and impact measures.
  • Continuous improvement: Use engagement feedback, performance data and lessons learned to refine plans, operating practices and capability investments over time.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Corporate Affairs, Communications, Public Affairs, Launch Excellence, Program Management, or related biopharmaceutical business functions experience.
  • OR Master’s degree and 7 years of Corporate Affairs, Communications, Public Affairs, Launch Excellence, Program Management, or related biopharmaceutical business functions experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Corporate Affairs, Communications, Public Affairs, Launch Excellence, Program Management, or related biopharmaceutical business functions experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Corporate Affairs, communications, public affairs or a related function, preferably in biopharmaceuticals, biotechnology or another complex, regulated and global environment.
  • Experience translating leadership strategy into integrated plans, operating rhythms, portfolio priorities and clear ownership across multiple teams.
  • Experience developing internal engagement or change communications plans, including executive narratives, channel strategy, events and measures of employee understanding or adoption.
  • Experience mapping external stakeholders and coordinating engagement plans with cross-functional partners, including clear follow-up and outcome tracking.
  • Ability to build useful dashboards, synthesize performance and engagement data, and provide concise, decision-ready updates to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated success aligning leaders and teams across a matrix, resolving dependencies and influencing outcomes without relying on direct authority.
  • Experience identifying organizational or functional capability gaps and building practical roadmaps, resources or ways of working to address them.
  • Working knowledge of digital and AI-enabled tools, including how to assess use cases, support responsible adoption and measure impact.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills; able to make complex issues clear and lead focused discussions.
  • Experience using feedback, data and lessons learned to improve programs and embed repeatable practices.

Benefits

  • A comprehensive employee benefits package, including a Retirement and Savings Plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
  • A discretionary annual bonus program, or for field sales representatives, a sales-based incentive plan.
  • Stock-based long-term incentives.
  • Award-winning time-off plans.
  • Flexible work models where possible.
