[Hiring] Senior Microsoft Licensing Consultant @Inviso

3d ago - Inviso is hiring a remote Senior Microsoft Licensing Consultant. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: Canada

Role Description

Inviso is seeking a Senior Microsoft Licensing Consultant to serve as an embedded licensing SME and lead writer/editor for a strategic Microsoft client. In this role, you will own the editorial and modernization of licensing-related content—translating complex program rules and Product Terms into clear, customer-ready guidance for partners, sellers, and customers while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency across a broad set of assets.

The successful candidate brings senior presence and polish, communicates directly and transparently, and is a reliable executor who can manage priorities with minimal oversight. You are equal parts licensing expert and strong writer/editor—able to translate complex licensing concepts into precise, readable guidance, proactively surface risks or inconsistencies, and deliver thoughtful, stakeholder-ready content with a high bar for quality and detail.

Candidates must be eligible to onboard as a Microsoft vendor (V-dash) within a Microsoft managed service engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth licensing accuracy reviews across customer-facing assets; validate entitlements, coverage, and requirements related to Software Assurance, Enterprise Agreement (EA), SCE, CSP, MCA, and legacy volume licensing constructs.
  • Identify and correct outdated, incorrect, or misleading licensing statements, including risks associated with Software Assurance dependencies, virtualization rights, dual-use rights, and program eligibility.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on evolving Microsoft licensing models and purchase motions, including the impact of EA retirement, changing purchase routes, and program-specific constraints.
  • Modernize legacy licensing assets by aligning language with current Microsoft programs, policies, and Product Terms while preserving appropriate customer-level abstraction.
  • Deliver editorial and structural guidance to improve clarity, logical flow, and consistency across licensing documents (including consolidation of redundant sections and remediation of incorrect or expired references).
  • Assess content to distinguish static vs. dynamic licensing materials; advise where minimal updates are sufficient versus where substantive revisions are required due to licensing evolution.
  • Support large-scale content initiatives by reviewing high-volume licensing document sets with an emphasis on accuracy, risk reduction, and long-term maintainability.
  • Maintain clear review notes and change documentation (e.g., issue logs, revision summaries) to support governance, approvals, and future updates.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of Microsoft licensing experience (20+ years strongly preferred), including deep familiarity with Software Assurance, Product Terms, and commercial licensing programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft licensing programs and contracts including EA, SCE, CSP, MCA, and legacy volume licensing; comfortable interpreting program rules and constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex licensing rules into clear, customer-appropriate content; strong writing and editing skills (native/advanced English required).
  • Proven track record reviewing and updating customer-facing licensing documentation for accuracy, compliance, and clarity.
  • Client-facing presence with senior polish; able to collaborate with senior stakeholders and represent Inviso professionally in a large enterprise environment.
  • Direct, clear communicator who proactively surfaces risks, ambiguities, and recommendations early; comfortable giving and receiving concise feedback.
  • Highly organized and dependable; able to manage multiple assets and deadlines with minimal oversight and strong follow-through.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to navigate shifting priorities and stakeholder dynamics smoothly.
  • Quality-focused and detail-oriented; produces thoughtful, polished work products and maintains a high bar for accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with structured review workflows and content tooling (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel/trackers, SharePoint/Teams) and maintaining issue logs/revision histories.
  • Strong judgment on how to communicate licensing guidance at the right level of abstraction for different audiences (partner, seller, customer) without losing accuracy.
  • Ability to work US Pacific hours (Central/Eastern considered) and coordinate across time zones as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Microsoft marketing, field readiness, partner readiness, or GTM content where licensing guidance must be precise and customer-ready.
  • Project/program management strength: can run content-heavy workstreams like a readiness program—build schedules/workbacks, lead structured review/approval cycles, provide crisp status updates, proactively surface risks/blockers, and drive decisions to closure across multiple stakeholders.
