[Hiring] Senior Media Monitoring & Analytics Specialist @Somewhere

3d ago - Somewhere is hiring a remote Senior Media Monitoring & Analytics Specialist. πŸ’Έ Salary: candidate-stated monthly rate in usd; final structure depends on experience πŸ“Location: CST (UTC-6)

Role Description

We are expanding our media intelligence bench so our senior strategic leads and crisis teams can move faster, identify emerging narrative risks earlier, and deliver polished reporting to our clients. This role owns the executional engine of media intelligence β€” the mechanics that keep monitoring, dashboards and reporting running exceptionally well. Higher-level analysis, insight and client context stay with our senior strategic leads; you make their work faster and sharper by delivering clean, accurate, well-organized inputs.

You are highly proficient in the tools and thrive on the craft of execution. You can build and refine dynamic Boolean search strings across complex monitoring software, track fast-moving media coverage, maintain executive-ready Looker Studio dashboards, and pull, structure and report data with precision. You have the analytical clarity to flag what matters β€” distinguishing high-volume noise from genuine reputation signals β€” and route it to the senior team quickly.

The work spans earned media, owned channels, paid campaigns and the wider social ecosystem across multiple client accounts. Most assignments involve daily coverage tracking and weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reporting. On occasion, and with advance notice, you will provide real-time monitoring during volatile media spikes, where speed and accuracy matter most.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in PR measurement, media monitoring, digital marketing analytics or corporate communications reporting. Agency or multi-client experience is highly valued.
  • Advanced mastery of Boolean search logic to build, refine and troubleshoot complex queries across enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with media intelligence software, including Meltwater, Muck Rack, Brand24, Google Analytics 4 and social listening tools.
  • Strong data visualization and spreadsheet skills β€” Looker Studio, Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, data structuring).
  • Analytical clarity: the ability to distinguish high-volume chatter (quantitative spikes) from true brand reputation risk (qualitative sentiment change).
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to summarize media activity into clear, accurate, client-ready reporting.
  • A dependable remote work practice with at least four hours overlapping U.S. Central Time on working days.
  • Composure and responsiveness during real-time media spikes, crisis response windows and time-sensitive deadlines.

Requirements

  • Monitor daily media coverage across traditional print/broadcast, digital news and social channels.
  • Gather, organize and categorize media clips and mentions across multiple corporate, public sector and non-profit client accounts.
  • Execute rapid real-time monitoring during breaking news or media spikes β€” delivering immediate notifications, flash alerts and incident summaries to account teams.
  • Build, maintain and update client analytics dashboards using Looker Studio, Excel and custom tracking tools.
  • Aggregate, structure and clean quantitative metrics and qualitative sentiment data from enterprise platforms including Meltwater, Muck Rack, Brand24 and Google Analytics 4.
  • Maintain highly organized master datasets, media archives and historical benchmarking logs.
  • Compile, format and write polished, accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reports.
  • Surface and flag key trends, sentiment shifts, share-of-voice changes and emerging risks for the senior team's analysis.
  • Support ad hoc research, competitive benchmarking, media lists and measurement projects as client needs emerge.

Benefits

  • Ongoing independent contractor engagement.
  • Full-time, approximately 40 hours/week.
  • Remote, open to global talent.
  • At least four dependable hours overlapping U.S. Central Time on working days.
  • Enterprise licenses and tools are provided, including Meltwater, Muck Rack, Brand24, Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio.
  • Expanded responsibility may follow strong performance and account fit.
  • Candidate-stated monthly rate in USD; final structure depends on experience.
