Role Description

The Senior Managing Biomechanist leads a team of expert engineering staff in human-injury analysis in vehicular accidents, premises liability, and slip-and-fall incidents. This position requires extensive experience in forensic biomechanical analyses and involves:

• Leading a team of experts in conducting detailed inspections of vehicles and accident sites.
• Accurately analyzing crash sequences to identify contributing factors and the induced loading on the occupants.
• Using computer models to reconstruct accidents and measure load and injury levels.
• Supporting business development efforts by building and maintaining rapport with current clients.
• Partnering with business development representatives and attending conferences to promote the company.
• Communicating with clients and team regarding scope of work, investigation tasks, budget, and ensuring project timelines are met.
• Mentoring and guiding a team of experts in all aspects of project work.
• Providing expert testimony at trials, depositions, or other legal proceedings.
• Inspecting and measuring vehicles.
• Reviewing documents to identify relevant information for accident reconstruction or biomechanical engineering analysis.
• Performing simulations of vehicular collisions using advanced collision reconstruction software.
• Evaluating the effects of impact forces on occupants due to vehicular accidents.
• Determining human injury mechanisms in vehicular accidents and premises liability cases.
• Performing accident reconstructions of various collision types.
• Utilizing engineering principles to calculate impact and departure speeds, collision forces, and trajectories.
• Comparing calculations with crash test reports to correlate damages based on calculated velocities.
• Reviewing papers and journals related to vehicular accident reconstruction.
• Providing written conclusions of findings to assist in understanding evidence or determining facts at issue.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, and premises liability work or similar required.
• Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering required.
• PE license, PhD, SAE certification and/or ACTAR certification required.
• Demonstrated success establishing clientele and rapport with insurance carriers, lawyers, and adjusters.
• Extensive experience providing expert deposition and courtroom testimony.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD as applied to accident reconstruction and forensic analysis.
• Strong background working with automotive engineering and automotive control systems.
• Experience collaborating with forensic animators to develop high-quality visual exhibits for depositions and trial presentations.
• Experience performing, evaluating, and interpreting computer simulations.
