[Hiring] Senior Manager, Safety @Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd.

Role Description

Bowman has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Safety to join our team in Remote. Oversee the health and safety policies and procedures of the company.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and Direction:
  • Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
  • Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
• At the Operational and Company Level:
  • Oversee day-to-day safety operations by conducting on-site safety evaluations that emphasize our cultural values of safety and well-being.
  • Conduct on-site safety training programs that ensure a safe workplace for all employees at branch offices and field operations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of overall safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the operations group to ensure all activities are performed in a safe manner.
  • Interact with Branch Management team to support the safety efforts of the branch.
  • Assist the Safety Director in the development of safety training programs and best operating procedures.
• Do the Work:
  • Provide environmental, health, and safety expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives to address risk, health, and safety issues.
  • Remain cognizant of changing safety rules and regulations and update company programs accordingly.
  • Author communications about site evaluations, branch interactions, and safety issues observed.
  • Work closely with Director of Safety & Compliance to address and resolve significant issues.
  • Participate on Safety Council as an active member.
  • Ensure the company adheres to all relevant safety regulations and customer requirements.
  • Assist the Integration Team to integrate newly acquired companies into Bowman’s culture of safety.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes.
  • Monitor safety metrics and identify trends for continuous improvement.
  • Help gather safety documentation, such as inspection sheets and incident reports.
  • Work closely with operational teams to promote safety awareness and implement safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Director of Safety Strategy & Compliance to align field practices with company policies.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and employee engagement at all levels.

Qualifications

• Seven or more (7+) years of experience in providing services that support the construction, mining, energy, and transmission pipeline industries.
• Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and DOT regulations.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft suite.
• Ability to travel throughout the United States and be able to be “on call” 24/7 for emergencies.
