[Hiring] Senior Jewellery Expert @Catawiki

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Expert in Preowned Jewellery (Branded and Unbranded) to support our team of experts and jewellery sellers in Italy, contributing to the growth of Catawiki’s Jewellery auctions.

• Use your specialist knowledge to create attractive auctions by evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our sellers.
• Review lot titles, descriptions, and pictures, providing users with an estimated and realistic value.
• Maintain transparency and fairness in user transactions.
• Engage professionally and courteously with sellers to create exceptional auctions.
• Work with the sales department to recruit and develop new sellers and diversify auction lots.
• Collaborate with the marketing department to increase potential bidder attention at your auctions.

Qualifications

• A Gemmology Diploma from one of the schools recognised by the FEEG or GIA.
• 5–10 years’ experience in the jewellery, diamonds or precious stones trade.
• Project management capabilities with experience in cross-functional teams.
• Good grasp of market prices and understanding of the jewellery second-hand market.
• Experience in appraising and assessing jewellery.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data.
• Extensive trade knowledge with a network of potential sellers and experts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in computer tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
• The diplomatic competence needed to mediate disputes between users.
• Fluent English language skills; Italian is a plus.
