Role Description

Build together on leading maritime and offshore projects worldwide. Jan De Nul Group realizes sustainable solutions at sea and along the coast: from dredging and offshore energy projects to innovative infrastructure works. Our survey teams form the foundation of accurate project execution (positioning) and follow-up (measuring and visualizing). Strengthen our team as a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor and make a direct contribution to projects with impact.

As a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor, you are responsible for:

• Planning, organizing, and carrying out all hydrographic survey activities within the agreed project and quality framework.
• Translating complex technical issues into an efficient and qualitative approach.
• Installation, calibration, and maintenance of survey and measuring equipment.
• Processing, visualizing, and interpreting collected data into usable information to support the project team.
• Taking proactive initiative in case of operational challenges, looking for solutions, and making targeted adjustments.
• Communicating smoothly and purposefully with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Reporting clearly on contractual deliverables and monitoring practical execution on site.
• Guiding and coaching surveyors and providing targeted feedback to stimulate their professional growth.
• Promoting active knowledge sharing within the team and with headquarters.
• Embarking on our safety culture and ensuring it is always respected.

As an expat on one of our global projects, you will work within a different work regime, usually including:

• Two months of 12-hour work days, six days a week, followed by one month off.
• Demanding work that provides a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Engineering Construction, Hydrography, Electronics, Geology, Surveying, Geography, Bioscience Engineering, or Topography.
• At least initial work experience, ideally 2 to 7 years as a hydrographic surveyor in a maritime or offshore context.
• Ability to work analytically and accurately, quickly grasping technical data.
• Clear, professional, and purposeful communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Initiative and problem-solving mindset, remaining stress-resistant under time pressure.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing planning and organization excellently.
• Leadership skills to support colleagues in their development.
• Creative and innovative thinking about improvements in techniques and processes.
• Preparedness to work on worldwide projects according to a rotation system.
• Safety as an absolute priority.
