[Hiring] Senior Director, No Kid Hungry State Campaigns @Share Our Strength

Role Description

The Senior Director, No Kid Hungry State Campaigns are two positions that will provide strategic leadership and internal coordination to the portfolio of No Kid Hungry state campaigns across the West, Southeast, or Northeast/Mid-Atlantic/Mid-West region. The two Senior Directors will:

• Lead development of the region’s multi-year strategy.
• Guide state campaign leads in building annual plans informed by data and best practices.
• Ensure resources and staff are positioned toward the highest-impact opportunities.
• Co-lead organizational programmatic strategy in one or two priority areas.
• Assess learnings, impact, and needs across the broader state campaigns to inform future strategy and plans.
• Ensure strong alignment between state strategies and organizational priorities.
• Drive consistent operational standards, including annual planning, budgeting, grantmaking, and reporting.
• Strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing among states within the region.
• Serve as a key voice for the region’s public presence, coordinating messaging and media engagement.
• Directly manage 4-6 staff, responsible for performance management and talent development.
• Work with the managing director to build strong cross-departmental systems.
• Serve on the broader state campaigns leadership team.
• Act as a key internal connector, guiding teams through organizational change.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• 10+ years’ previous work experience in advocacy, public policy, community development, program management, or social services.
• Experience leading successful state campaigns, ideally in multiple states.
• Experience working with state and local government officials, state agency staff, businesses, and community-based organizations.
• Deep knowledge of federal nutrition programs such as school breakfast, summer meals, SNAP, and other benefits integration initiatives.
• Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
• Proven successful budget management experience.
• Strong people leader and thought partner.
• Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant applications/software.

Requirements

• Up to 40% travel.
