Role Description

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Procurement Specialist in hardwood, plywood, lumber, and architectural building products. Must also possess excellent negotiation skills. This is primarily a remote position based on the East Coast, with occasional travel to branch locations required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist in hardwood, plywood, lumber, and architectural building products
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Excellent understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements

• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best deals
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company’s needs for lumber and building materials
• Analyze market trends and adjust procurement plans accordingly
• Place orders, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of products
• Manage and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment and quality
• Monitor and analyze purchasing costs
• Develop strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality
• Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels
• Assist in forecasting demand and adjusting procurement schedules as needed
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information
• Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal regulations
• Stay updated on industry standards and best practices
