You will work with engineers, designers, project leaders, clients, consultants, and vendors to translate operational, process, safety, code, and accessibility requirements into practical, constructible design solutions.

Location: Remote with occasional site visits to CA facilities.

Duration: 6 Months +/-

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead building surveys, existing-condition documentation, programming, and design studies.
  • Develop and coordinate architectural models, drawings, and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Lead architectural drawing production through applicable design phases and prepare complete document packages.
  • Perform building code, life-safety, energy-code, and accessibility analyses, including California Building Code and ADA requirements.
  • Coordinate architectural work with engineering disciplines, designers, drafters, consultants, vendors, and project teams.
  • Conduct material and product research and begin or support preparation of architectural specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed work, including assignment scope, budget, and schedule inputs.
  • Participate in client and project meetings and present architectural and technical solutions.
  • Support proposals, technical approaches, and estimates for professional services.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks for designers, drafters, and technical support staff when required.
  • Self-check work for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project and company standards.
  • Visit client facilities and active industrial or construction sites as project needs require.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree from a NAAB-accredited program, or education and experience meeting California Architects Board requirements for licensure.
  • Current California architect license, or active architect license in another U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to obtain California licensure within an agreed timeframe.
  • Five or more years of relevant professional architecture experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, building systems, architectural practice, and document production.
  • Working knowledge of the California Building Code, California Energy Code, applicable life-safety requirements, and accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to communicate design and technical concepts clearly in verbal, written, and graphic formats.
  • Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple assignments with competing priorities.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with industrial, life sciences, laboratory, food and beverage, advanced manufacturing, energy, or process-facility projects.
  • Experience supporting EPC or EPCM project delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience with cleanrooms, cGMP, sterile, regulated, or high-hazard environments.
  • Experience gathering existing-condition information at operating facilities and active construction sites.
  • Experience preparing scopes, budgets, schedules, proposals, and architectural specifications.
  • Experience directing work performed by designers, drafters, consultants, or design-assist partners.

Core Expectations

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and zero harm.
  • Take ownership for commitments, timelines, quality, and follow-through.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and colleagues through clear, respectful communication.
  • Adapt to evolving project requirements while maintaining sound professional judgment.
  • Deliver practical, customer-focused solutions with technical accuracy and integrity.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office or client-office environment and may include travel to operating facilities and industrial or construction sites. The role may occasionally require standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Overtime, including occasional weekend or holiday work, may be required based on project demands. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Client and Project Requirements

Depending on assignment, the selected candidate may be required to complete client-specific safety or site training and obtain or maintain credentials such as MSHA training, TWIC, site badges, cGMP or sterile-area training. Employment and assignment eligibility may be subject to lawful background, education, employment, driving-record, drug/alcohol, or other screening requirements, as applicable to the role, client, and location.
