[Hiring] National Consultant for the Evaluation of UN Women’s Humanitarian Response in Ukraine (2022-2026) @UN Women

4d ago - UN Women is hiring a remote National Consultant for the Evaluation of UN Women’s Humanitarian Response in Ukraine (2022-2026). 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: Ukraine

Role Description

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in February 2022 triggered the largest and fastest-growing displacement crisis in Europe since the Second World War. Within months, millions had fled their homes — westward within Ukraine and across borders into neighboring countries — with women and children constituting around 90 per cent of the initial refugee outflow, as martial law restricted the departure of men of conscription age.

In Ukraine, UN Women works to ensure that the humanitarian response to the full-scale war addresses the distinct needs, priorities and rights of women and girls. It also supports women and girls to participate and lead in crisis response and recovery.

  • UN Women’s Ukraine Country Office supports the humanitarian architecture in Ukraine to deliver on its gender equality commitments.
  • Provides protection, livelihood and leadership support to war-affected women and girls.
  • Engagement spans the humanitarian–development–peace nexus, guided by its corporate Humanitarian Strategy and Core Commitments in Humanitarian Action.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social science, sociology, international development, gender/women studies or related area.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience on relevant development GEWE related issues, including substantive support to several evaluation processes.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience of gender analysis and human rights-based approaches.
  • Previous experience in similar assignments with UN agencies and other international organizations.
  • Fluent in English and Ukrainian, written and spoken. Knowledge of Russian will be an asset.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates professional competence and is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
  • Process management skills, including facilitation and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation and communications skills and ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and research, writing, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Strong inter-personal, team working skills.
  • Ability to work and adapt to a dynamic working environment.

Benefits

  • Flexible funding through the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) to support women's organizations.
  • Access to training and capacity building for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), government counterparts, International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) and UN partners.
  • Support for income generation activities and protection services in safe spaces for internally displaced women.

Company Description

UN Women was created in July 2010 as part of the UN reform agenda, merging and building on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system focused on gender equality and women's empowerment.

At UN Women, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment of mutual respect. UN Women recruits, employs, trains, compensates, and promotes regardless of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, national origin, or any other basis covered by appropriate law.
