[Hiring] Manager, Public Policy @Amazon

Role Description

Come build a future with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, Public Policy will help develop and execute Amazon’s public policy efforts at the state and local level in New Jersey.

• Create and execute state and local government affairs objectives in New Jersey.
• Engage on state legislation, work with outside consultants, and interact with trade associations.
• Support local government outreach and establish relationships with public officials in communities where Amazon operates.
• Attend policymaker conferences and build positive relationships.

Key job responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with our policy and business teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
• Assess and anticipate public policy matters, oversee and execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives.
• Assess and communicate potential government activities.
• Develop strategies and positions, coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives.
• Educate government stakeholders on a wide range of policy areas.
• Coordinate advocacy and represent Amazon issues to policymakers on issues related to our business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 8+ years of public policy experience.
• Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge.
• An ability and desire to travel is required.

Requirements

• Experience interacting with government agencies on technology policy.
• An expert understanding of the legislative and regulatory policy process and the technology industry.
• New Jersey government experience.
• Expert skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging.
• Broad government relations strategy experience.
• Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity.
