[Hiring] State Policy & Advocacy Manager @Susan G. Komen

Role Description

The State Policy and Advocacy Manager will support and promote Komen’s public policy & advocacy initiatives related to breast cancer and public health policy in the specified states. This individual will be responsible for:

• Direct day-to-day policy and advocacy engagement in their states.
• Building and maintaining relationships with state legislators and their staff.
• Building a statewide policy collaborative.
• Tracking, reviewing, and assessing state legislation and regulatory efforts.
• Monitoring state budget climate and state breast health programs.
• Supporting education efforts of Komen’s grassroots network with assigned states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Government Affairs, Communications.
• At least 3 years of directly related experience in State Policy & Advocacy.
• Experience working with state legislatures and agencies in the assigned state(s).
• Proven ability to research, draft, analyze, and interpret legislation and execute corresponding advocacy campaigns.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with elected officials, legislative staff, and other high-profile persons.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and follow-up skills.

Requirements

• Able to travel to the Annual Advocacy Summit; Regional travel for meetings, training, and lobbying needs; up to 20%.
