Role Description

This position primarily involves mentoring students through online live, synchronous classes, while also potentially acting as a Substitute or Guide for in-person programs.

  • Deliver transformational learning experiences aligned with Williamsburg Learning’s mission.
  • Connect deeply with The Williamsburg Curriculum and possess a passion for the subject.
  • Manage a group of students while delivering dynamic instruction.
  • Instruct 5 live courses virtually, approximately 35 hours per week.
  • Use the 6 Mentor Practices to Optimize Student Learning:
    • Inspire, challenge, and engage students.
    • Cultivate a hunger for knowledge and encourage curiosity.
    • Teach students “how to learn” not “what to learn.”
    • Apply the Socratic Method to classroom discussions.
    • Help set and attain goals for students.
    • Continually seek deeper understanding and knowledge.
    • Find creative ways to communicate subject matter.
  • Grading, Intervention, and Communication:
    • Monitor assignment configuration and accuracy in Canvas.
    • Communicate expectations and assignments effectively.
    • Grade student work and provide timely feedback.
    • Respond to correspondence within one business day.
    • Track attendance and ensure student participation.
    • Perform weekly interventions for students who are behind.
    • Hold a weekly office hour and set up Parent/Mentor Conferences.
    • Attend IEP meetings as requested.
  • Implement TWC with Integrity in Online Format:
    • Inspire students with engaging presentations.
    • Design classes around syllabi objectives and key questions.
    • Connect with students individually, demonstrating personal caring.
    • Contribute ideas for curriculum improvement.
    • Adapt mentoring practices to the delivery format.
  • Professional Development and Team Participation:
    • Embrace the role of a mentor and master the Six Mentor Practices.
    • Participate in WL Professional Development activities.
    • Attend required meetings and track Scorecard numbers.
    • Participate in observations and feedback opportunities.
    • Demonstrate company values with students, parents, and team members.
  • Demonstrate Professionalism during all Classes:
    • Set rules and expectations for classes.
    • Supervise students at all times.
    • Abide by all WL and applicable LAU policies.
    • Stay current on required trainings.
    • Refer disciplinary issues to proper team members.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with demonstrated knowledge and interest in the subject area.
  • Current Teaching License.
  • Current Utah or Colorado resident.
  • Ability to start working on July 15th, 2025.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • Highly organized and flexible as the program evolves.
  • Team player, following all relevant policies and pledges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner with technology and proficient in electronic communication.
  • Alignment with Williamsburg Learning's educational philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with middle- and high school-aged students.
  • Experience teaching in the subject area.
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint, G-suite, and web-based conference platforms.
  • Prior use of Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems.
