[Hiring] Inventory Control and Accounting Assistant @UNDP

Role Description

The Inventory Accounting and Control Assistant consultant is located in the Inventory Accounting and Control Team within Pillar 4 – Support Services in the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). The position reports directly to the Inventory Accounting and Control Team Lead. The Inventory Accounting and Control Assistant will work closely with other SCMU colleagues, other HQ Business Units particularly with the Finance Branch, the Regional Offices and the Country Offices and with a number of external partners.

The Inventory Accounting and Control Assistant will provide routine support and help achieve effective day-to-day operations through applying inventory control mechanisms and processing transactions in accordance with applicable procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost accounting review and analysis and check for accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions in UNFPA’s ERP system.
• Check for compliance with inventory management in the Country Offices for programme supplies.
• Assist accounting closure and financial reporting for inventory management.
• Assist with the preparation of inventory management performance reports.
• Support and implement activities related to UNFPA’s Governance, Risk, Compliance and Reporting function.
• Support the implementation of UNFPA's capacity-strengthening initiatives.
• Appreciate UNFPA's supply chain thought leadership and incorporate initiatives into daily activities.
• Contribute to an environment of knowledge retention and sharing.
• Support improved supply chain execution by incorporating best practices.
• Support UNFPA’s value proposition and relationships with donors and partners.
• Assist with the preparation of SCMU’s resource mobilisation proposals.
• Maintain effective collaboration with supply chain partners.
• Attend and participate in SCMU and UNFPA meetings related to supply chain management functions.
• Carry out any other duties as may be required by the Chief, SCMU.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education is required.
• A University degree at Bachelor Level in accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Commerce, or equivalent field is an asset.
• A professional Supply Chain Management certification such as CIPS at Level 3 and/or CILT-UK at Level 3 would be an additional asset.

Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in financial management, inventory management, accounting, and control.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capability to develop and maintain broad diversified partnerships.
• Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is required.
• Professional written and spoken presentation skills.
• Experience working in a matrix organizational structure is an asset.
• Basic proficiency in project management skills is an asset.
• Knowledge of UNFPA’s country classification system and Strategic Plan is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of the principles and operational aspects of sexual and reproductive health commodities is an asset.
• Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

Benefits

• The duration of the assignment is 11 months.
• Consultants will work Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
• Services can be delivered remotely or in person at the SCMU office premises in Copenhagen.
