[Hiring] Grid Interconnection Manager @Iron Mountain

Role Description

Iron Mountain is seeking a commercially and operationally driven Grid Interconnection & Power Delivery Manager to join our Global Data Centers team. In this role, your primary objective is to secure access to power for our expanding data center portfolio. As the commercial and process orchestrator for our grid connections, you will focus on:

• Determining the Pathway to Power for new sites:
• Know the system connection process for target markets, the responsible parties, and the technical criteria for meeting new site needs.
• Understand system upgrade processes, power redundancy practices, system voltages, and components necessary to deliver power.
• Commercial Negotiation & Translation:
• Lead the negotiation of grid connection agreements (ESAs) with local utilities.
• Translate complex utility contracts and grid constraints into clear operational and commercial realities for IMDC projects and end customers.
• Validate the technical aspects of power design and delivery to the site, including upstream system resources.
• Process Orchestration:
• Own the master timeline for power delivery.
• Coordinate "who does what and when," ensuring local Project Managers hit critical verification, submission, and operational milestones.
• Contract Lifecycle Management:
• Deeply understand the ongoing requirements of grid access contracts.
• Manage the lifetime of the contract, ensuring utilization thresholds are met, commercial risk is mitigated, and compliance is maintained.
• Cross-Functional & 3rd Party Leadership:
• Act as the central node between external technical consultants, utilities, sales teams, and construction teams.
• Ensure technical data is seamlessly handed off and applied to the commercial strategy.
• Risk & Timeline Alignment:
• Actively monitor utility requirements against reality.
• Track critical thresholds to ensure capacity commitments align with actual customer deployment.

Qualifications

• Technical Understanding: Knowledge of electrical system components and voltages sufficient to ensure contracts deliver power aligned to the needs of new facilities.
• Commercial & Operational Rigor: Meticulous process manager and strong commercial negotiator.
• Cross-Functional Teamwork: Highly comfortable and effective at working across different teams.
• Industry & Utility Expertise: Demonstrable experience in energy procurement, utility relations, or infrastructure project management for energy-intensive consumers.
• Contractual Fluency: Ability to read complex grid connection contracts and understand implications for project timelines.
