Role Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a highly experienced GIS Specialist Expert to support enterprise transportation GIS initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linear Referencing Systems (LRS), ESRI Roads & Highways, and transportation data management. This role involves developing, maintaining, and validating GIS datasets while ensuring data accuracy and quality across roadway systems.

The candidate will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and transportation analysts to support GIS applications, ETL processes, QA/QC activities, and SQL Server-based data operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional GIS experience
• Strong experience with Linear Referencing Systems (LRS)
• Hands-on experience with ESRI Roads & Highways
• Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Suite
• Experience with SQL Server and database management
• ETL development and data integration experience
• Strong QA/QC and data validation skills
• Experience working with transportation or roadway GIS data
• Ability to troubleshoot GIS and data-related issues
• Strong communication and analytical skills

Requirements

• Develop and maintain GIS roadway and transportation datasets
• Support Linear Referencing and ESRI Roads & Highways implementations
• Perform GIS data migration, transformation, and integration
• Conduct QA/QC validation on spatial and tabular data
• Create and maintain GIS documentation and standards
