[Hiring] Geospatial Data Operations Specialist @onX

Role Description

onX is seeking (3) 12-month fixed-term Geospatial Data Operations Specialists with a passion for geospatial data and the technology that powers our customers’ outdoor adventures. In this role, you will support onX Fish by acquiring, curating, and processing the data anglers rely on to find and fish waters with confidence. This includes water access sites, fish species information, and other fishing related content. You will manually curate this data to improve the onX Fish app.

What You'll Do

• Manual curation of high-value datasets within onX's web-based GIS editing platforms.
• Process spatial data within our established processing pipelines.
• Conduct quality control checks on spatial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate with the team leads to address issues.
• Critically analyze existing processes and make suggestions for improvements.
• Provide support to ad hoc data acquisition, curation and processing needs.
• Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.

Qualifications

• Education: Certificate, Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Analysis or closely related field.
• Experience with desktop geospatial software such as QGIS or ArcMap.
• Ability to follow instructions as provided in process documentation.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized self-starter.
• Patience for repetitive tasks.
• Ability to maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude.
• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relationships with other onX employees.
• Desire to contribute to a strong team dynamic.

Added Bonuses

• Experience working with bathymetry, fisheries research, and/or points of interest (POI) data.

How You'll Be Compensated

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, we are open to considering candidates ranging in two levels (level II and level III). Spanning these levels, applicants can expect to make between $25.00 to $27.50 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
