[Hiring] Extension Support Specialist IV @Cornell University

Role Description

The Extension Support Specialist IV will be part of the dairy extension program in the Department of Food Science. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership for the certificate program.
• Overseeing program marketing and development of strategic partnerships.
• Developing new programs, including AI and sanitation.
• Creating a sustainable financial model for the certificate program.
• Ensuring 50% of funding comes from external sources by the end of year 2 and 100% by the end of year 3.
• Contributing to economic development activities in the dairy and food industry in New York.

This is a full-time position at 100% FTE, with the opportunity to work remotely within New York State 5 days a week. Additional on-site presence may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or closely related discipline.
• More than 5 but less than 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of food industry and food safety.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
• Expertise in the development, delivery, and evaluation of training programs.
• Valid and unrestricted NYS driver’s license.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
• Proven organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate applied research projects.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Competence utilizing current technology for management and program delivery.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Internet, and Web development.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Experience identifying and obtaining new funding.
• Prior budgetary experience.
• Ability to cultivate inclusive working relationships.
