[Hiring] EPIC Beaker Analyst III @UTHealth Houston

Role Description

UTHealth Houston's Clinical Information Technology department is seeking an analyst to support Beaker modules in the EPIC EHR. This employee will be responsible for the ongoing design, build, testing, validation, and support of Beaker modules across the healthcare system.

• Works with operational stakeholders and IT technical staff to troubleshoot Epic system issues and problems.
• Captures requirements for new initiatives and aids in the planning and execution of project plans.
• Works with Beaker end users to communicate improvements needed for business processes.
• Contributes directly to the success of the UTHealth mission from a technological, clinical, administrative, and financial perspective.

We are looking for Beaker-certified analysts with experience in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Laboratory. This role is remote, but preference is given to Texas residents.

Qualifications

• MUST BE CERTIFIED IN EPIC'S BEAKER MODULE.
• Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
• Superior customer relation skills.
• Familiarity with project lifecycle and project management methodologies for software management.
• Ability to plan and manage projects of various sizes.
• Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources and summarize it to solve problems.
• Must receive a passing score on all required exams and projects within a pre-determined timeframe.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline is required.
• At least five (5) years of experience in a health care-related field is required.
• 3 years of experience supporting one or more Epic modules is preferred.
• Large-scale health care systems planning and implementation experience on application software products preferred.

Position Key Accountabilities

• Maintains expertise and seeks additional knowledge in the support and optimization of Epic Beaker module(s).
• Works cohesively with stakeholders to provide system support, including analysis, build, and testing of requested changes.
• Reviews, builds, tests, and implements new functionality via System Upgrades and Special Updates.
• Works and manages multiple tasks independently.
• Demonstrates timely, effective, and efficient troubleshooting of complex production software and workflow issues.
• Acts as primary contributor in the development and documentation of internal procedures.
• Helps develop and build timelines and project plans.
• Develops and maintains system documentation for ongoing support and maintenance.
• Assists Application Director in developing build timelines and project plans.
• Performs and oversees unit testing of application configurations and builds.
• Assists with the creation of test scripts and ensures they are relevant and accurate.
• Performs testing in a structured manner, follows defined test scripts, and documents results.
• Follows established guidelines for system change control.
• Creates and maintains documentation for change management, including cost estimation.
• Collaborates across teams to ensure quality standards are met.
• Independently performs basic project management activities for system changes and medium to large projects.
• Develops application-specific reports and provides technical specifications as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
