The Director, Vendor Management leads enterprise vendor strategy, governance, performance, and value realization across a complex healthcare revenue cycle environment. This leader owns the vendor lifecycle from sourcing and due diligence through contracting, onboarding, performance management, issue remediation, renewal, and transition, while ensuring vendor partnerships support service quality, compliance, scalability, and responsible financial stewardship. The role leads a team of vendor management professionals and serves as a senior partner to Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Information Technology, and executive leadership.

Success requires moving beyond transactional contract administration to an integrated governance approach that improves accountability, makes performance visible, reduces third-party risk, and converts vendor relationships into measurable operating and financial value.

  • Implement a consistent enterprise vendor governance framework, including segmentation, decision rights, performance scorecards, and review cadence.
  • Improve visibility into vendor performance by establishing actionable SLA, KPI, quality, risk, and financial reporting.
  • Strengthen cross-functional alignment across Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Information Technology, and business leaders throughout the vendor lifecycle.
  • Build a high-performing vendor management team with clear ownership, escalation pathways, and development plans.

The role owns the following ongoing accountabilities and is expected to translate strategy into disciplined, measurable execution.

  • Set the enterprise vendor management strategy and translate operating priorities into a practical vendor portfolio plan.
  • Advise senior leaders on sourcing, insourcing, outsourcing, vendor consolidation, and performance improvement decisions.
  • Identify market, capacity, technology, and delivery risks that could affect service continuity or growth.
  • Oversee vendor selection, due diligence, contracting support, onboarding, performance reviews, remediation, renewal, and offboarding.
  • Establish scorecards and operating reviews that measure service levels, quality, productivity, cost, compliance, and business outcomes.
  • Lead resolution of material vendor issues and ensure corrective actions are documented, owned, and sustained.
  • Lead, coach, and develop vendor management analysts and other assigned team members.
  • Clarify roles, decision rights, escalation thresholds, and working norms across the vendor management function.
  • Build capability in negotiation, analytics, executive communication, governance, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance on contract adherence, regulatory obligations, audit readiness, and third-party risk.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations on budgets, forecasts, invoice validation, capacity planning, and value realization.
  • Provide concise executive reporting on vendor performance, risk, financial impact, and decisions required.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of end-to-end vendor lifecycle management and third-party governance.
  • Ability to design and apply SLAs, KPIs, scorecards, corrective action plans, and executive dashboards.
  • Strong commercial judgment, negotiation capability, and understanding of vendor economics.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations and compliance-driven service environments.
  • Ability to lead distributed teams and influence senior stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, supply chain, operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressive vendor management, sourcing, operations, or third-party risk experience.
  • Three or more years of people leadership or enterprise program leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex vendor portfolios and cross-functional governance in a regulated or high-volume environment.
  • Experience presenting performance, risk, and financial recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Healthcare revenue cycle management experience.
  • Experience managing onshore and offshore vendor delivery models.
  • PMP, CISM, CPSM, CSCP, or comparable vendor, sourcing, risk, or project credential.
  • Experience with vendor management systems, business intelligence tools, and contract or risk management platforms.
  • Enterprise thinking and disciplined prioritization.
  • Sound judgment, accountability, and ethical leadership.
  • Change leadership and comfort navigating ambiguity.
  • Talent stewardship and capability building.
  • Executive communication and cross-functional influence.
  • Customer, client, patient, and associate-centered decision-making.

Requirements

  • Improvement in vendor SLA, KPI, quality, and corrective-action performance.
  • Documented cost avoidance, value realization, or productivity improvement from vendor initiatives.
  • Reduction in recurring vendor issues, unmanaged risk, and overdue remediation actions.
  • Improved stakeholder confidence in vendor reporting, governance, and decision quality.

Benefits

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the physical, emotional, and financial health of you and your family, including healthcare, time off, retirement, and well-being programs.
  • Each associate will earn a professional certification relevant to their field and can obtain tuition reimbursement.
  • We offer quarterly and annual incentive programs for all employees who go beyond and keep raising the bar for themselves and the company.
