Role Description

The Director, U.S. Government Affairs is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide federal government affairs, public policy, regulatory engagement, and stakeholder management strategies across FUJIFILM’s U.S. portfolio of businesses. This role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and is responsible for:

  • Identifying legislative, regulatory, geopolitical, reputational, and business risks.
  • Developing advocacy strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Advancing policy initiatives that support growth, innovation, domestic manufacturing, healthcare access, trade competitiveness, and supply chain security.
  • Assisting in high-level engagement with Congress, the Executive Branch, federal agencies, trade associations, industry coalitions, and other key stakeholders.
  • Partnering closely with subsidiary leadership teams to align public policy priorities with business objectives.

This position requires an accomplished government affairs leader with demonstrated success influencing complex public policy issues, leading cross-functional initiatives, managing external consultants and advocacy organizations, and operating effectively within a highly matrixed, multinational organization.

This role is a critical strategic partner to C-suite executives and board members, directly influencing high-stakes decisions that drive FUJIFILM’s long-term business strategy and market leadership across multiple regulated industries and geographies.

Current lobbying experience and registration is required with experience lobbying in the semiconductor or global trade field. Our ideal candidate should reside in the DC surrounding area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Political Science, Government Affairs, Public Administration, Law, Communications, Business Administration, International Relations, or related field required. Masters is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, regulatory affairs, public affairs, corporate affairs, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing professional staff, consultants, vendors, external advisors, or cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing federal advocacy campaigns influencing legislative, regulatory, or policy outcomes.
  • Significant experience engaging directly with Congress, federal agencies, executive branch officials, national trade associations, and industry coalitions.
  • Required experience in trade policy and/or semiconductor policy, including the ability to assess policy impacts on advanced manufacturing, supply chains, technology competitiveness, and business strategy.
  • Strong understanding of the federal legislative, regulatory, appropriations, trade, and administrative policy processes.
  • Proven ability to advise senior executives on strategic policy, regulatory, geopolitical, reputational, and business risks.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, executive briefing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, complex, multinational corporate environment with enterprise-wide responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, International Affairs, or related field preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology, semiconductor, electronic materials, trade, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, corporate affairs, or external affairs initiatives.
  • Experience managing large-scale external stakeholder engagement programs, national trade association relationships, lobbying firms, and advocacy coalitions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trade policy, supply chain security, healthcare innovation policy, manufacturing policy, industrial policy, or international economic policy.
  • Proven ability to lead transformational initiatives and manage change in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining C-suite and government relationships to influence policy and business outcomes.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with experience in high-stakes government and industry settings.
  • Skilled in anticipating, mitigating, and managing reputational, regulatory, and geopolitical risks at an enterprise level.
  • Adept at leading cross-divisional teams and communicating complex policy issues clearly to diverse audiences including executives and boards.
  • Strong capability in developing innovative policy solutions and thought leadership that shape industry standards.
  • Experience navigating the complexities of multinational regulatory environments and aligning global policy strategies.
  • Proficiency in leveraging data analytics and intelligence to inform policy strategies and measure advocacy effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with the latest government affairs and lobbying technology platforms and CRMs to optimize engagement and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in forming and leading coalitions and partnerships that drive legislative and regulatory change.
