Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong background in Structural Steel Erection and Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient in takeoffs, cost estimation, and remote collaboration, with a keen eye for accuracy and construction nuances. You will play a key role in developing competitive bids for commercial and industrial steel construction projects across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from structural, architectural, and PEMB drawings using digital tools.
• Estimate costs for labor, equipment, and materials related to steel erection, PEMB components, roofing, and related scopes.
• Interpret and evaluate overlap between PEMB packages and structural steel to avoid scope duplication.
• Review foundation plans and extract takeoff quantities for anchor bolts, base plates, and embedded items.
• Analyze roof systems including standing seam metal roofs with insulation and trim to create detailed breakdowns and pricing.
• Apply sound estimating judgment to factor in crew productivity, site constraints, and other project conditions.
• Maintain organized takeoff files, historical cost data, and bid documentation for future reference.
• Collaborate with project managers and U.S.-based teams to clarify drawing ambiguities and submit RFIs when necessary.
• Review and analyze previous estimates and job costs to identify errors or improvements for future bids.
• Communicate clearly and reliably in a remote work environment, adjusting availability for timezone differences as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on steel erection and PEMB systems.
• Proficient in estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, STACK, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of structural steel components (beams, columns, bracing, etc.) and PEMB systems (frames, girts, purlins, roofing, siding).
• Solid grasp of labor productivity rates and cost drivers in steel erection.
• Familiar with U.S. construction practices, terminology, and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational skills in naming, structuring, and managing takeoff and bid files.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively seek clarification where needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with U.S.-based general contractors, steel fabricators, or PEMB suppliers.
• Prior remote work experience with international teams.
• Background in construction management, civil/structural engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Work Environment

• 100% Remote
• Must be available for occasional real-time collaboration with U.S. team members (typically between 7 AM–12 PM Pacific Time)
• Project-based deadlines with flexible work hours
