Role Description
We’re looking for a talented, self-driven and experienced senior hydraulic modeller (clean water) to join our Modelling and Innovation team to support both its product development team and its growing user base with live models. You will be involved in the implementation of client´s network models in Qatium as well as collaborating with other teams such as Product and Customer Success to provide hydraulic and industrial knowledge.
Working initially with our customers, you will define data requirements and aid in the initial set-up of their live models. Our customers come from across the globe, some including Waterloo (Canada), Greenville (Indiana, USA), Anglian Water (UK), Leeton Shire (Australia) and Global Omnium (Spain).
As we continue to expand the capabilities of Qatium to update existing or include new features such as flushing scenarios, water quality analysis, flow balance, calibration, live network alerts and optimization, your experience in building, calibrating and using models will be essential in aiding the product team in designing new ways of solving these common challenges, especially by those that are not trained in hydraulics.
Key responsibilities
- Implementation of client's networks in Qatium: carry out the integration of client´s networks live model in Qatium.
- Contributing to the design of new ways of solving industry challenges: collaborate with the product team to expand Qatium's capabilities by developing new features, tools and plugins in Qatium, particularly based on customer feedback (e.g. network flushing, emergency shutdowns, water quality analysis, leak detection, etc.).
- Supporting the hydraulics team with industry experience and technical knowledge.
- Defining data requirements and aiding in the setup of live models for clients.
- Contribute to the automation of data processing and real-time modeling, the data collection, processing and cleansing.
- Developing automated water modeling and calibration processes.
- Support to create case studies and technical guidelines.
- Participating in workshops and conferences to promote Qatium.
- Assisting with streamlining the customer onboarding process to allow future utilities and clients to onboard independently.
- Team support & management: provide interim leadership to support teams needing additional guidance, managing projects and people to enhance performance. Act as a bridge between managers and teams to ensure successful execution of strategies.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a clean water hydraulic modeller.
- Experience building, calibrating and using hydraulic models.
- Education: We value experience and contribution of a degree or related technical field education, e.g. Civil Engineering.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to foster teamwork and collaboration in cross-functional environments.
- Ability to explain hydraulic concepts clearly to both highly proficient users and those not familiar or from within the water industry.
Requirements
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Spanish proficiency is a plus but not essential.
- Previous experience in setting up or maintaining a live modeling environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of software development Programming or automation experience would be beneficial.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, get-things-done attitude.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to travel: Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, client workshops, or industry events.
- Ability to thrive in a remote-first, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
