[Hiring] Buyer, Construction Subcontracts, Data Center Projects @Giga Energy

2d ago - Giga Energy is hiring a remote Buyer, Construction Subcontracts, Data Center Projects. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

As a Buyer, you will own subcontract packages for Giga data center projects from request to award. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will:

  • Issue requests for proposal
  • Level the bids
  • Recommend the award
  • Prepare the work order
  • Manage the vendor through the job

You will work directly with subcontractors and partner with Engineering and Construction to ensure scopes are complete before they go out to bid. Legal owns the legal terms; you own the commercial outcome: scope, price, schedule, and payment milestones.

Our procurement platform is AI-native, utilizing AI agents built on Claude and our Google Sheets and Drive data spine to draft, log, compare, and check. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for a buyer who can run several live packages at once on more than one project.

This role is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Texas, but we will consider candidates anywhere in the US. Expect about 20% travel to project sites and team on-sites.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of construction procurement or subcontract buying experience
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Experience leveling bids and writing award recommendations
  • Working knowledge of subcontracts, work orders, change orders, certificates of insurance, bonds, and retention
  • Strong vendor relationships and a habit of following up without being asked
  • Bias to action, keeping packages moving on an aggressive schedule

Requirements

  • Owner-side construction procurement on large capital programs, such as gigafactories, data center campuses, semiconductor fabs, or energy projects (bonus points)
  • Experience with data center, substation, MEP, or mission-critical construction (bonus points)
  • A Texas and Oklahoma subcontractor network (bonus points)
  • Hands-on use of AI tools in your daily work (bonus points)
  • Experience with NetSuite or another ERP, and with Autodesk Construction Cloud (bonus points)

Benefits

  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Commuter benefits, where applicable
  • Opportunities to collaborate in person at periodic team and company on-sites
