[Hiring] Architect Manager @Bamboo Insurance

Role Description

As the Architect Manager – Platform Architect, you will lead Bamboo’s architecture team and guide platform and solution architecture across project teams. You will establish a shared technology roadmap and architecture standards spanning Guidewire InsuranceSuite, digital applications, integrations, and cloud services. You will partner with Engineering, Product, Security, and business leaders to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while providing hands-on architectural guidance and developing the architects who report to you.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Platform, solution, digital, and integration architects assigned to the architecture team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Build, lead, and develop a distributed architecture team; manage hiring, coaching, performance evaluations, and staff development.
• Provide architecture leadership across project teams, aligning designs and priorities with business objectives and the enterprise technology roadmap.
• Define platform standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and architecture review processes; document decisions and design tradeoffs.
• Guide architecture for Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, and Guidewire Cloud Platform, including digital and third-party integrations.
• Partner with delivery teams from discovery through production to address dependencies, validate designs, and resolve architecture risks.
• Establish API and event-driven integration patterns, data ownership boundaries, and approaches to resilience, scalability, and maintainability.
• Embed security, privacy, observability, recovery, and performance requirements into designs in partnership with Security and DevOps.
• Evaluate technology and vendor options through proofs of concept; balance business value, implementation effort, operating cost, and technical debt.
• Coordinate architecture capacity across initiatives and communicate roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
• Define architecture standards for AI and generative AI solutions, including model and platform selection, enterprise data integration, evaluation, human oversight, and controls for security, privacy, reliability, and cost.

Qualifications

• Strong architecture expertise across Guidewire InsuranceSuite, cloud services, digital platforms, and enterprise integrations.
• Hands-on background in Java, REST APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and relational and NoSQL data platforms.
• Ability to evaluate design tradeoffs and translate business needs into practical architecture and implementation guidance.
• Knowledge of AWS, cloud security, identity and access management, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and production observability.
• Strong people management skills, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and developing architects.
• Ability to influence distributed teams and delivery partners and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to architect AI and generative AI capabilities using enterprise AI services, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and tool or API integrations; evaluate model quality and establish appropriate governance and operational controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of software engineering or enterprise technology experience, including 5 years in solution or platform architecture.
• At least 3 years of people management experience leading architects or senior technical professionals.
• Experience delivering P&C insurance solutions using Guidewire and integrating core systems with cloud services and digital channels.
• Practical experience designing and validating AI or generative AI solutions through implementation or proofs of concept, and guiding teams in the responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools.

Preferred Requirements

• Guidewire Cloud Platform migration or modernization experience and relevant Guidewire certifications.
• Experience with Jutro Digital Platform, React, Next.js, and customer or agent portals.
• Experience establishing architecture governance across multiple programs and working with systems integrators.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary

Starting at $200,000 annually. Candidate's skills, experience and abilities will be taken into consideration for final offer.
