Role Description

This position primarily involves mentoring students in an online format, delivering transformational learning experiences through live, synchronous classes.

Connect deeply with The Williamsburg Curriculum and possess a passion for the subject.
Manage a group of students while delivering dynamic instruction.
Teach 4 live courses, approximately 30 hours per week.

Use the 6 Mentor Practices to Optimize Student Learning:
- Inspire, challenge, and engage students.
- Cultivate a hunger for knowledge and encourage curiosity.
- Teach students “how to learn” not “what to learn.”
- Apply the Socratic Method to classroom discussions.
- Help set goals for students and assist them in attaining these goals.
- Become a master in your field and seek deeper understanding.
- Find creative ways to communicate your subject area.
Grading, Intervention, and Communication:
- Monitor assignment configuration and accuracy in Canvas.
- Communicate expectations and assignments effectively.
- Grade student work and provide timely feedback.
- Respond to correspondence within one business day.
- Track attendance and ensure student participation.
- Perform weekly interventions for students who are behind.
- Hold a weekly office hour and set up Parent/Mentor Conferences.
- Attend IEP meetings as requested.
Implement TWC with Integrity in Online Format:
- Inspire students with engaging presentations.
- Design classes around syllabi objectives and key questions.
- Connect with students individually and demonstrate personal caring.
- Contribute ideas to improve WL’s curriculum.
- Adapt WL mentoring practices to your role and delivery format.
Professional Development and Team Participation:
- Embrace the role of a mentor and master the Six Mentor Practices.
- Participate in WL Professional Development activities.
- Attend required meetings and participate fully.
- Demonstrate company values with students, parents, and team members.
Demonstrate Professionalism during all Classes:
- Set rules and expectations for classes.
- Supervise students at all times.
- Abide by all WL and applicable LAU policies.
- Stay current on all required trainings.
- Refer disciplinary issues to proper team members.

Qualifications

BA/BS with knowledge of and interest in middle school Math.
Current Teaching License with Mathematics Education Endorsement.
Current Utah or Colorado resident.
Ability to start working on July 15th, 2025.
Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
Highly organized and flexible as the program evolves.
Team player who follows all relevant policies and pledges.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Quick learner with technology and proficient in electronic communication.
Alignment with the educational philosophy and methods of Williamsburg.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working with middle- and high school-aged students.
Experience teaching in your subject area.
Familiarity with PowerPoint, G-suite, and web-based conference platforms.
Prior use of Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems.
