Role Description

I’m currently recruiting for a Technical Account Manager to join a highly specialised software and data business serving leading asset management firms across South Africa and the UK.

This is a senior, client-facing role sitting at the intersection of technical delivery, enterprise account management, data engineering and financial services. You’ll take ownership of two strategic enterprise accounts, lead a team of Data Engineers, and ensure the successful delivery and ongoing entrenchment of critical data solutions.

• Own the end-to-end technical relationship with key enterprise clients.
• Lead monthly service reviews, SLA performance and capacity planning with senior stakeholders.
• Act as the escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring effective communication, resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Work with third-party data vendors to resolve market data issues and protect SLAs.
• Identify opportunities to expand account relationships and embed additional data solutions.
• Lead and support a team of Data Engineers, focusing on mentorship, development and effective resource allocation.
• Oversee release management across Dev, QA, Pre-Prod and Production environments.
• Manage stakeholder expectations, change requests and scope.
• Ensure technical knowledge and processes are documented and shared across the team.
• Understand data pipelines, market data warehousing and reporting architectures well enough to engage confidently with developers, architects and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Technical Account Management, Technical Delivery or IT Service Management.
• Asset management / investment management experience is non-negotiable.
• Experience working within financial services, investment management or data-intensive environments.
• Proven experience leading or managing technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder and client management skills, particularly in high-pressure environments.
• Experience managing SLAs, incidents, escalations and enterprise clients.
• Strong technical understanding of data pipelines, databases, market data and data workflows.
• Experience with enterprise change control and release management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
• You don’t need to be a hands-on developer, but you must be technically fluent enough to understand architectural discussions and their business implications.
