Reading is important. So it’s surprising, in 2021, just how little help we get from technology. Many key problems have barely been addressed, let alone solved: helping people decide what to read in a world of near-infinite content. Making reading socially and emotionally relevant. Helping people prioritize attention, remember what’s important, and learn.

We believe reading technology can be much better than it is.

About Matter

Matter is a social reading product, currently in private beta on iOS. We're keeping a low profile til we launch, but we're lucky to have some happy beta users and to be backed by some great investors including GV, Y Combinator, and founders from Stripe, Segment, Eventbrite, Tilt, Newfront, Guild, Safegraph, On Deck, Lambda School, and more.

We're a small, productive team that obsesses about craft, speed, and pushing technical boundaries in service of building the best reading experience imaginable.

We're Hiring

You'll fit in if you care deeply about building high quality software and want to take ownership of a product, codebase, and company from the ground up.

We’re a fully remote and distributed team that collaborates with modern tools like Linear, Figma, Superhuman, Loom, and Around. (Preference for at least six hours of overlap with Pacific Standard Time.)
