Role Description
The Technical Writer/Editor will develop, edit, and quality-review clear, accurate, accessible documentation and learning materials supporting training modernization. This role will translate complex scientific, regulatory, technical, and procedural content into consistent, audience-appropriate materials.

-
Collaborate with instructional designers and regulatory, and program subject matter experts to organize complex source material and express it in clear, concise, accurate language appropriate for adult learners.
-
Preserve technical meaning while improving structure, readability, terminology, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and instructional flow across classroom, virtual, hybrid, and digital materials.
-
Verify that course content, captions, labels, references, procedures, exercises, answer keys, and assessment language are internally consistent and traceable to approved source materials, learning objectives, and SME validation.
-
Apply project editorial standards, client Visual Identity requirements, approved templates, plain-language practices, and consistent naming, formatting, and citation conventions across each complete course materials package.
-
Coordinate with Section 508 specialists to prepare accessible Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and other electronic materials; address editorial and structural findings and support completion of required compliance checklists before submission.
-
Edit eLearning scripts, storyboards, narration, on-screen text, interactions, knowledge checks, and supporting documentation for clarity, consistency, accessibility, and fidelity to approved technical content.
-
Support course evaluation and redesign by reviewing legacy materials, identifying outdated, duplicative, unclear, incomplete, or inconsistent content, and contributing findings and recommendations to course evaluation reports and development plans.
-
Participate in courseware reviews with stakeholders and internal team members; document decisions, reconcile comments, incorporate approved revisions, and confirm that reviewer feedback is fully dispositioned.
-
Maintain disciplined file naming, version control, change records, source attribution, and document status so working files and final Government-owned deliverables remain current, reproducible, and easy to maintain.
-
Conduct final editorial quality-control reviews before submission, including cross-document consistency checks for course titles, objectives, terminology, page references, links, answer keys, visual callouts, and required components.
-
Prepare materials for paperless-first electronic delivery through client-approved Microsoft Office, PDF, SharePoint, shared-drive, or LMS workflows; do not create macro-enabled files.
-

-
Perform other duties within the scope of the position and contract requirements.
