Role Description
GDITβs Federal Health Division is seeking a Technical/Deliverable Writer to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). In this role, you will develop clear, concise, and assertive communications for Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership (HFPP) members and the Trusted Third Party (TTP). You will join a 50-person team supporting the TTP, an organization established in 2012 to help reduce fraud, waste, and abuse in healthcare data.

Technical Writing for Non-Technical Audiences:

Develop clear, concise documents explaining healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse concepts for readers without technical or analytic backgrounds.

Translate complex analytical methods, data findings, and fraud schemes into plain language, using examples, visuals, and structured formatting where appropriate.

Draft guidance documents, explainer materials, FAQs, and reference guides related to healthcare fraud trends and prevention efforts.

HFPP Analytic Reports and Summaries:

Collaborate with analysts, subject matter experts, and project teams to understand HFPP analytic projects, methodologies, and outcomes.

Co-develop HFPP analytic reports, executive summaries, and key findings documents that accurately reflect analytic results and recommendations.

Create concise, high-level summaries and talking points tailored for leadership, partners, and other non-technical stakeholders.

Communications and Stakeholder Materials:

Support the development of HFPP communications products, including briefings, slide decks, newsletters, web content, and stakeholder updates.

Ensure consistency of messaging, terminology, and tone across all written materials.

Draft content that highlights program impact, success stories, and emerging healthcare fraud schemes in a way that is understandable and actionable for diverse audiences.

Collaboration and Review:

Work closely with data analysts, investigators, policy experts, and program staff to gather information and validate content.

Incorporate feedback from reviewers and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with HFPP goals and messaging.

Participate in planning meetings to understand upcoming analytic work and communication needs.

Quality, Style, and Compliance:

Apply plain language principles and best practices for communicating complex technical information.

Ensure all content is well-organized, grammatically correct, and adheres to established style guides and branding guidelines.

Maintain a high standard of accuracy, particularly regarding descriptions of fraud schemes, data findings, and program activities.
Qualifications

Bachelor degree

5+ years of technical writing experience

Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security rules

Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Experience with Tableau, Amazon WorkSpaces, Jira, and Confluence

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to management level staff
Requirements

Experience writing about healthcare, health policy, insurance, or public health, and/or experience with fraud, waste, and abuse or investigative work (e.g., program integrity, audits, law enforcement, SIU, compliance)

Demonstrated ability to explain complex analytical or technical topics to non-technical audiences

Experience collaborating with analysts, investigators, or subject matter experts to develop reports or summaries

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple writing assignments and deadlines

Proficiency with common productivity tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint) and comfort working in a collaborative, team-based environment
