Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Submissions professional to join our high-performing team of writers and designers. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of compelling, customer-focused submissions that showcase Downer’s capability, support our growth strategy, and help secure some of New Zealand’s most significant transport and infrastructure projects.

Working with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business, you’ll understand client requirements, procurement models and evaluation criteria, and be able to translate these into compelling win strategies and high-scoring submissions.

• Produce engaging, persuasive, and high-scoring written content that supports business growth and project success.
• Manage complex tender submissions, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met from planning and content development through to final submission.
• Build and maintain strong relationships across the business to influence outcomes and support successful bids.
• Maintain a high level of organisation and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, delivering quality outcomes.

We are open to candidates based in Auckland, Christchurch, Tauranga, or Wellington, as this role can be performed from any of these locations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing high-quality submissions, bids, or tender responses.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to create compelling, customer-focused content.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
• Excellent organisation and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive, results-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and quality outcomes.
• Previous experience working in the civil construction industry would be an advantage.
