[Hiring] Senior Aviation Journalist @ch-aviation

Role Description

Do you love aviation and writing? We may just have a job for you! We are looking for a full-time aviation journalist with mother-tongue-level knowledge of English to be employed on a long-term contractor basis, or as an employee based in Switzerland, Croatia, Serbia, or Thailand.

Given our push to enhance our coverage of the global aviation market, we are currently looking for an experienced aviation journalist with experience writing in English remotely. As a journalist, part of your job will involve:

• Researching and chasing down leads from various news articles and regulatory documents.
• Building articles suited to an English-speaking B2B audience.
• Writing articles covering business and commercial-aviation topics such as fleet and aircraft order news, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory stories, airline network updates, and general business model developments.
• Building and maintaining relationships with sources across the globe.
• Working within established writing style guides and cooperating with the editorial team.
• Having a strong sense of global geo-political events to contextualize airline industry events.
• Working independently and coordinating with a team over remote communications tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in journalism.
• Knowledge of civil and/or business aviation.
• Several verifiable unedited pieces in English for reference.

Requirements

• C2-level of English language, both oral and written; knowing multiple languages is a plus.
• Previous newsroom experience is a plus.
• Ability to properly structure an English news article using in-house guidelines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues.
• Strong digital research skills, including advanced use of search engines and online databases.
• Previous experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook).

Optional Skills

• Previous experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment.
• Knowledge of Boolean search terms.
• Language skills in multiple languages are a plus.
