Role Description

We're seeking an experienced Principal Scientific Communications Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a senior scientific communications professional with extensive experience in manuscript development, publication planning & strategy, scientific writing, and medical affairs support who excels at leading complex initiatives and partnering with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.

As a Principal Scientific Communications Specialist, you'll provide scientific and medical expertise while supporting multiple clients, therapeutic areas, and workstreams. You'll contribute to the development of high-quality deliverables, provide strategic guidance, and help ensure projects are completed efficiently and compliantly.

• Lead the creation, review, and submission of scientific publications and manuscripts
• Develop and review a wide range of scientific and medical communications materials
• Provide scientific support for marketed and investigational products
• Interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical data to healthcare professional audiences
• Evaluate scientific literature and integrate evidence-based findings into client deliverables
• Create and review medical affairs and scientific communication materials
• Participate in scientific training and educational initiatives for assigned brands
• Support scientific exchange activities
• Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory, compliance, quality, and client requirements
• Serve as a lead resource across multiple clients, brands, workstreams, or therapeutic areas
• Coordinate priorities and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Mentor and train team members while providing scientific guidance and support
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, special projects, and strategic business activities

Qualifications

• PharmD, PhD, MD
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in manuscript development, publication planning, medical communications, medical affairs, scientific communications, medical information, or a related healthcare field
• Required experience with publication and manuscript creation, review, and submission
• Experience developing one or more of the following:
  • Scientific manuscripts and publications
  • Scientific slide decks
  • Medical information materials
  • Standard response documents
  • Medical affairs materials
  • Dossiers
• Strong scientific writing, editing, and critical appraisal skills
• Ability to interpret clinical data and scientific literature
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, leadership, and project management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fully remote environment

Requirements

• Experience serving as a lead for clients, brands, therapeutic areas, or workstreams
• Experience developing:
  • Publication/manuscript review, submissions for high impact factor journals
  • Publication plans
  • Scientific narratives
  • Advisory board materials
  • Symposium materials
  • Training and educational materials
• Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device clients
• Client-facing experience
• Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) certification preferred, but not required
