Role Description
USA TODAY Sports Network is seeking an enterprising and collaborative editor to help lead coverage of the NFL for the nationβs largest media organization. The person in this role will manage and mentor a team of reporters and help guide our day-to-day reporting, including breaking news, as well as lead our enterprise and project coverage.

Direct day-to-day coverage, including breaking news, of the NFL in collaboration with the NFL editor and other leaders.

Assure urgency that goes beyond the basic facts and first headline, pushing forward into the impact of the news.

Take a leading role in assuring enterprise reporting is part of our daily offering.

Use SEO, analytics, and optimization techniques to grow readership and engagement.

Collaborate with video, podcast, social, graphics, and other teams as needed to amplify NFL content.

Contribute to daily and event planning, including the Super Bowl and the NFL draft.

Maintain USA TODAY Co.βs high standard of journalistic integrity and ethical reporting.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent field.

Minimum of eight years of journalism management experience, with a strong background leading sports content teams.

Exceptional news judgment as well as strong editing and writing skills.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and during high-volume news cycles.

Willingness to contribute across the USA TODAY Sports Network team as required around major sporting events.

Proficiency in digital publishing, metrics, and SEO best practices.

Be a willing learner, ready to explore new tools and techniques to improve workflows and work.

Benefits

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $83,000 and $129,688.

Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including market, education level, skills, certifications, and experience.
