Role Description
MassLive, the largest news and information website in Massachusetts, is looking for an experienced high school sports reporter to help their team expand into the Boston Area. The reporter will be responsible for all aspects of coverage, including:

Working alongside the High School Sports Editor to build Boston coverage.

Playing a role in content strategy.

Reporting on some of the biggest schools in the state.

Writing and reporting from games.

Gathering data for the high school sports stats platform.

Creating creative storylines.
-
Producing multi-dimensional content as a digital media outlet.

Covering rankings for teams and players, breaking news, and feature stories.
Qualifications

A degree in journalism or communication, or equivalent education and work experience.

Minimum of two years of journalism experience with proven ability in reporting and writing.

Solid understanding of news writing, reporting, journalistic ethics, and story structure.

Mastery of social media and digital interaction.

Bilingual and multilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements

Ability to work independently and remotely under deadline pressure.

Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.

Must be able to work nights and some weekends.

Ability to learn and master methods and applications used to deliver content across various platforms.

Ability to leverage relationships with sources to deliver differentiated content.

Ability to shoot, edit, and publish short-form video content optimized for Instagram and mobile audiences.

Comfortable appearing on camera for live hits, interviews, and social media-first reporting; broadcast experience a plus.

This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
Benefits

This position pays between $49,500 to $56,000 annually.
