[Hiring] VP of Supply @Burq, Inc.

Role Description

We're looking for a VP of Supply to make operational excellence happen across Burq's delivery network at the leadership level. Reporting to our Head of Commercial, you'll own our provider relationships and supply strategy end-to-end, build and lead the team behind it, and partner with executive leadership across the business to keep supply ahead of where we're going.

• Operational excellence: Understand the end-to-end delivery flow from pickup to drop-off, pinpoint where friction shows up along the way, and determine whether the fix is operational, process, or technical — down to the provider level.
• Supply strategy & vision: Set the overall strategy and long-term vision for Burq's supply network — where to expand, which providers to prioritize, and how to structure the network for reliability and cost efficiency.
• Team leadership: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply team as our network and business scale.
• Provider relationship management: Own Burq's most important delivery service provider relationships, from day-to-day partnership to commercial terms.
• Performance accountability: Hold providers accountable to strong service levels — on-time performance, coverage, quality — and manage performance reviews and escalations when they fall short.
• Gap identification: Proactively identify gaps in supply coverage — geographic, capacity, or capability — and lead the effort to close them.
• Executive & cross-functional partnership: Represent supply strategy and performance to executive leadership, and partner closely with Customer Success, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Support to align supply with customer needs and the product roadmap.
• Budget ownership: Own the supply budget and make prioritization calls across providers, markets, and initiatives.
• Metrics ownership: Own and report on key supply metrics — cost per delivery, on-time performance, coverage, and provider mix — against company-level goals.
• Use AI tools day-to-day: Analyze provider performance data, monitor supply health, and automate reporting as a core part of how you and your team work, not an occasional add-on.

Qualifications

• A track record of operational excellence — deep understanding of the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, from pickup to drop-off, and a demonstrated ability to identify friction points and resolve them through operational, process, or technical improvements at the provider level.
• 8–12+ years in supply chain, logistics operations, or partner/vendor management, ideally including direct experience managing delivery provider or carrier relationships.
• Experience building, leading, and developing a team, with a track record of scaling a function as a business grows.
• Experience partnering with and presenting to executive leadership, and comfortable owning a budget and making tradeoff calls against it.
• Proven experience negotiating commercial terms and managing performance with external partners or vendors.
• Strategic thinker — able to develop and articulate a long-term vision for a supply network, not just manage it day to day.
• Comfortable holding partners accountable — able to have direct conversations about performance gaps and drive them to resolution.
• Strong cross-functional leader — able to align Customer Success, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Support around a shared supply strategy.
• Data-driven — comfortable analyzing provider and network performance data to identify gaps and opportunities.
• Comfortable working with APIs and technical integrations — able to understand how delivery/logistics platforms connect and speak credibly with technical stakeholders.
• A growth mindset: treats ambiguity and problems as things to solve, not blockers to escalate and wait on.
• AI-native — actively and fluently uses AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) in daily work, and is quick to adopt new AI tooling as it becomes available.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, change, and building processes from scratch in a startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in last-mile delivery, courier, or gig-economy operations, as well as freight — LTL, FTL, parcel, or middle-mile — and how those modes interact with the last mile.
• Experience working directly with dispatch, routing, or supply chain software platforms.
• Experience building or scaling a supply/provider network from an early stage.
• Prior experience as a people leader or functional head at a high-growth startup.
