Role Description

The Supply Chain Specialist supports day-to-day sourcing, procurement, supplier coordination, and material availability within a manufacturing environment. This role manages purchasing activities, monitors supplier commitments, maintains accurate procurement records, and partners with cross-functional teams in multiple geographies to support cost, quality, inventory, and on-time delivery objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and directly related work experience may be considered.
• Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, or PMP is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, procurement, or supply chain functions, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with supplier coordination, purchase orders, and ERP/MRP systems required.

Requirements

• Source and procure direct and indirect materials, components, and outside services to support manufacturing operations with a focus on new product introduction activity.
• Request and compare supplier quotations for pricing, lead time, quality, capacity, minimum order quantities, and commercial terms.
• Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with approval requirements; confirm supplier commitments and delivery dates.
• Monitor open orders and material availability; expedite deliveries and escalate shortages or delays that may affect production.
• Coordinate with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Finance to address purchasing needs and supply issues.
• Support supplier identification, qualification, and onboarding by gathering required capability, quality, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor supplier performance in quality, on-time delivery, cost, and responsiveness; follow up on open issues and corrective actions.
• Support cost-reduction initiatives, competitive bidding, pricing discussions, and total-cost comparisons under sourcing leadership.
• Support new product launches and engineering changes by securing quotations, samples, lead times, and initial production materials.
• Review demand and inventory information to help identify supply risks, long lead times, excess stock, and single-source exposure.
• Coordinate resolution of purchase order, receiving, invoice, and supplier return discrepancies with internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead-time, item, and purchasing data in ERP/MRP systems; prepare routine sourcing reports.
• Follow approved procurement processes, customer requirements, documented procedures, and work instructions.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement across the Supply Chain organization.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work environment: Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment. Subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions, though not necessarily from temperature changes.
• Physical or operational requirements: Sedentary to light work. May exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. May require standing and walking on the production floor and occasional travel to both intracompany and supplier sites. Close visual acuity required for reviewing purchase information, supplier quotations, reports, and computer systems.
