[Hiring] Technical Lead @Aveni

Role Description

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Lead to take technical ownership of the core services that underpin Aveni’s platform. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with responsibility for the architecture, quality and operational reliability of the foundations our product teams build upon. You’ll work across areas including:

• Client-data ingestion and preprocessing
• CRM integrations and APIs
• Multi-tenancy
• Identity and authentication
• Data lifecycle and retention

You’ll lead the technical direction of a team of around six to seven engineers, remaining close to the code while making architectural decisions, setting engineering standards and helping other engineers grow. Our platform supports regulated financial-services organisations, so reliability, security, auditability and data isolation aren’t afterthoughts — they’re fundamental to how we design and build.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Owning the technical architecture and direction of Aveni’s core platform services.
• Designing and building scalable, event-driven services on AWS.
• Developing and evolving our client-data ingestion capabilities.
• Building and maintaining APIs for consistent data consumption.
• Designing robust multi-tenant systems with strong data isolation.
• Leading our approach to data lifecycle management.
• Building resilient integrations with third-party platforms and APIs.
• Making and documenting architectural decisions.
• Raising engineering standards across various domains.
• Remaining hands-on with production code, primarily across Node.js and AWS.
• Mentoring engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical coaching.
• Helping the team make effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools.

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with a strong track record of technical leadership.
• Deep production experience with Node.js, particularly across backend, API and distributed systems.
• Strong experience designing and operating cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Experience building event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing production systems with complex multi-tenancy.
• Strong experience integrating with third-party APIs.
• A strong understanding of reliability, observability, security and operational ownership.
• Experience making architectural trade-offs and communicating decisions clearly.
• A track record of mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards.
• The ability and desire to remain hands-on while providing technical direction.

Requirements

• Production experience with Python alongside Node.js.
• Experience with identity and access management technologies.
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0 and authentication/authorization patterns.
• Experience building software within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Experience handling data residency, retention and GDPR erasure requirements at scale.
• Experience contributing to Architecture Review Boards.
• Experience establishing or improving AI-assisted software engineering practices.
