[Hiring] Staff Software Engineer @Waystar

Role Description

Our client base is constantly growing and we’re looking for great software engineers to make our team better. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be a technical contributor for our Aware platform. You’ll be challenged often and will find yourself working on all areas of the application domain across the full app delivery stack.

• Design and implement highly resilient, scalable, and performant solutions that solve complex healthcare problems using VueJS, NodeJS, Java, AWS and more.
• Participate in technical and product discussions with leaders across our engineering, product, and business teams.
• Self-reliance, without supervision, while showcasing best design/communication/solution practices in daily works.
• Ensure continuously improve our standard of engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and system design building scalable web applications and backend services.
• Expert understanding of software engineering best practices, such as version control, testing, and continuous integration.
• NodeJS

• JavaScript/TypeScript
• At least one modern frontend framework (VueJS, React, or Angular)
• SQL and relational databases
• REST API
• Automated testing (JUnit, TestNG, Jest, Vitest, or similar)
• Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and distributed systems
• Familiarity with Shift Left and test automation
• Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
• Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership; proactively identifies opportunities, takes initiative without being asked, and follows through with persistence.

Requirements

• Preferred Requirements:
• Experience with generative AI, machine learning, and predictive algorithms.
• Familiarity with statistics and healthcare domain.
• Expertise with distributed event streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Experience with data pipeline technologies.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on building scalable, distributed systems.
