[Hiring] Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure @Airbnb

Role Description

As a Software Engineer on our Cloud Infrastructure team, you will be at the forefront of developing the infrastructure platform that supports all teams across Airbnb. Your primary focus will be on operations and delivery of components such as:

• Developer APIs and CLIs
• Kubernetes infrastructure
• Autoscaling and capacity management tools
• Cloud infrastructure automation

A typical day includes:

• Innovating and building cutting-edge cloud-native infrastructure using public cloud technologies.
• Delivering secure, efficient, mature, and highly available frameworks and platforms that simplify infrastructure complexity.
• Optimizing and enhancing existing systems and services to boost performance and operational efficiency.
• Improving system availability by implementing industry best practices in distributed systems.
• Collaborating with a diverse team of talented infrastructure engineers to establish a solid foundation for Airbnb’s technological growth in the coming decade.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters and 2+ years with a PhD, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record in developing and operating large-scale technical projects in collaboration with experienced engineers.
• Expertise with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings (e.g., EC2).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• A full-cycle developer mentality with strong ownership and experience in building and operating high-scale, distributed systems throughout the software life cycle.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within and across engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and solid production debugging skills.
• A passion for efficiency, availability, reliability, and overall system quality.

Requirements

• Kubernetes expertise: You live and breathe Kubernetes and have operated it at scale.

Location

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a state where Airbnb Payments, Inc. (a subsidiary of Airbnb, Inc.) is a registered entity. Approved remote states include:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Pay Range: $212,000 — $265,000 USD
