[Hiring] Staff Engineer @Cloudlinux

Role Description

We are looking for a hands-on Staff Engineer to join the team building new security products currently under development at TuxCare. This role combines deep technical execution with technical product ownership. It is approximately 70% hands-on software engineering and 30% technical product ownership.

• Take ownership of significant product components and workstreams.
• Understand what needs to be built, working directly with stakeholders.
• Define milestones and tasks, design the solution, and contribute production code.
• Deliver it to customers and continue to own it in production.
• Focus on technical ownership rather than people management.
• Operate independently, work effectively with unclear requirements.
• Proactively move large areas of work forward without waiting for a manager.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a general interest in cybersecurity are important.

What you'll do:

• Own major product components and workstreams throughout their full lifecycle.
• Work directly with engineering, product, sales, and other stakeholders.
• Translate broad and sometimes unclear product goals into technical plans.
• Design scalable system architecture and make technical decisions.
• Build, review, and maintain production-grade components end-to-end.
• Take responsibility for delivered components in production.
• Independently track progress and proactively communicate results.
• Research relevant technologies, tools, market approaches, and competitor solutions.
• Contribute to engineering quality through design reviews and best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning major projects or workstreams end-to-end.
• Strong backend engineering experience in Python, Go, or Java.
• Strong system design and architectural thinking.
• Experience gathering and refining requirements.
• Strong technical product ownership.
• Ability to work independently without close day-to-day supervision.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with teams.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and blockers.
• Regular use of AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability.
