Role Description

FIS Management Services, LLC seeks Software Engineer Specialist: Technical Lead - Development in Jacksonville, FL to design, develop, and maintain complex software applications using COBOL and Java, ensuring alignment with FIS core technologies and standards. Responsibilities include:

• Implementing new features and enhancing existing functionalities in commercial-grade software products.
• Collaborating with product managers, business analysts, and end-users to gather and analyze system requirements.
• Translating business needs into detailed technical specifications.
• Participating in software design and architecture meetings.
• Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code using COBOL and Java.
• Performing rigorous unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Developing and maintaining integration points between COBOL-based systems and Java applications.
• Preparing deployment scripts and documentation for seamless installation and maintenance.
• Utilizing advanced FIS proprietary development tools and frameworks.
• Applying specialized methodologies for software lifecycle management, including Agile and Waterfall approaches.
• Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including design specs, user guides, and maintenance procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with internal standards, industry regulations, and audit requirements.
• Working closely with internal teams to provide technical insights and support.
• Assisting in training sessions and product demonstrations.
• Delivering clear and concise presentations to technical and business stakeholders.
• Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Proposing and implementing improvements to existing systems, processes, and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Eleven (11) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Experience working with fund accounting principles and practices.
• Experience implementing DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience working in Agile environments applying Scrum, Kanban, and Lean methodologies.
• Five years of experience in advanced software development utilizing COBOL and Java/J2EE technologies.
• Experience optimizing performance across platforms.
• Experience applying Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles.

Requirements

• Implementing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps.
• Working with fund accounting systems and financial services applications.
• Focusing on data integrity, compliance, and automation of financial operations.
• Coordinating cross-functional teams and managing program increments.
