Role Description

FIS Management Services, LLC seeks Software Engineer Seniors (API Kong Developer) in Jacksonville, FL to design and implement scalable API solutions using KONG Gateway.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand integration requirements.
• Develop custom plugins and middleware to extend KONG Gateway functionalities.
• Optimize API performance and security through monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Implement API management best practices including versioning, documentation, and access control.
• Deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor OpenShift clusters and Kong gateways, ensuring high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
• Administer OpenShift clusters, with proficiency in Kong architecture, installation, configuration, and tuning.
• Knowledge of Kafka internals and ecosystem tools, Linux systems and shell scripting.
• DevOps background and familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization.
• Work with JavaScript/TypeScript, Docker/Docker Compose, functional testing, API testing, and CI/CD tools including Jenkins/Travis and GitHub Actions.
• Integrate APIs with various backend systems and databases.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of APIs by implementing robust failover and redundancy strategies.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in API management and integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Experience designing and developing APIs using KONG Gateway.
• Working with RESTful API design principles and best practices.
• Utilizing programming languages including Python, Node.js, & Java.
• Working with Docker containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration tools for building scalable gateways.
• Implementing API security standards with OAuth, JWT, and SSL/TLS.
• Troubleshooting complex API issues and performance bottlenecks.

• In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in the above listed fields and three (3) years of experience in the above listed skills.
