Role Description

As a Software Engineer III at GitHub, you will enhance the collaboration experience by working closely with a community of engineers and designers. You will:

• Design, prototype, implement, ship, and support highly performant and inspiring user experiences.
• Work with the Monolith Systems team dedicated to the continuous health and improvement of the Monolith at GitHub.
• Engage in projects such as performance tuning Kubernetes deployments, migrating critical jobs to a new Redis cluster, and more.
• Collaborate in a highly impactful role across teams and organizations.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with demonstrated experience in maintaining and delivering production software using languages such as C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• OR an Associate’s Degree in a related field AND 3+ years of relevant experience.
• OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field AND 2+ years of experience in a related technical discipline.
• OR a Master’s Degree in a related field.
• 1+ years experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems (user base of 10 million+).

Requirements

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality technical solutions that scale across multiple GitHub services.
• Own and understand the operational aspects of building systems across the GitHub portfolio of products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions at scale.
• Advocate for the health and quality of the systems, including participating in on-call and first responder rotations.
• Write architecture briefs and proposals, carry out code experiments, and build prototypes.
• Design and implement APIs for seamless integration between software components.
• Utilize CI/CD tools to set up automated pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
• Become familiar with the systems you build and take pride in writing maintainable code.
• Identify areas to integrate instrumentation for system behavior.
• Contribute to sustaining feedback loops from telemetry resulting in subsequent designs.

Benefits

• Base salary range: USD $107,700.00 - USD $285,900.00 /Yr.
