[Hiring] Software Engineer @Luminary

Role Description

Luminary is seeking a software engineer to own features end to end. You'll hear ideas from customer conversations, craft data models, and build interfaces that advisors use while sitting next to clients.

• Work on features spanning document ingestion, knowledge graph generation, tax and wealth transfer modeling, multiplayer collaboration tooling, chat agents, complex diagram-based UI, and agentic advisory and trust administration workflows.
• Build agents with agents, designing chat affordances and ambient agents using coding agents.
• Utilize existing patterns for data modeling, GraphQL, and component architecture, while knowing when to innovate.
• Learn the domain from experts, including advisors, attorneys, and federal and state officials.
• Collaborate closely with experienced product designers to turn tax and legal concepts into usable applications.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of software engineering experience, ideally at startups.
• Comfortable across the stack, with experience in data modeling in Postgres, building product functionality in Go, and interfaces in React and TypeScript.
• Product-minded, gathering context and forming opinions about customer needs.
• Technically skilled, with familiarity in cloud web applications and complex data models, as well as technologies like React, TypeScript, GraphQL (Apollo), Playwright, Go, Postgres, and Temporal.
• Strong communication skills, especially in a remote work environment.

• Ability to work closely with customers and internal teams to gather feedback and iterate on product features.
• Willingness to engage with complex estate planning concepts and collaborate with subject matter experts.
• Experience in a fast-paced, agile development environment.

Compensation

Base salary range of $170k–$225k, plus meaningful equity. Actual compensation depends on many factors, including relevant experience and skillset.
