Role Description

The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading one or more engineering teams responsible for the development, delivery, and support of our platforms. This role is accountable for people leadership, delivery execution, technical guidance, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring teams deliver high-quality software while fostering employee growth, engagement, and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of software development experience with a strong technical foundation.
• 2+ years of engineering leadership experience managing Agile teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to balance competing priorities and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
• Experience identifying, communicating, and mitigating technical and project risks.
• Deep understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on technical expertise with the ability to contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and technical problem-solving.
• Experience working with data engineering, including data warehouses, pipelines, data modeling, and cloud-based solutions.
• Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, hiring/onboarding, and maintaining security, privacy, and compliance standards.
• Experience leading or working with data engineering teams, including teams responsible for data warehouses, pipelines, and data modeling.

Requirements

• Attract, develop, retain, and mentor high-performing engineers; conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions; lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities.
• Build and sustain a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
• Own sprint planning, execution, estimation, prioritization, and release activities; proactively identify and manage risks, dependencies, blockers, and delivery challenges while maintaining a sustainable team pace.
• Partner with stakeholders to communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans, balancing short-term delivery commitments with long-term platform health and modernization.
• Stay actively engaged through design reviews, code reviews, technical investigations, and hands-on contributions; serve as the escalation point for complex engineering and production issues.
• Promote best practices in software design, testing, quality, observability, security, and reliability; champion modern engineering practices, automation, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, DevOps, Technical Support, and Customer Success to ensure successful software delivery and positive customer outcomes.
• Drive root cause analysis following incidents; identify opportunities to improve workflows, tooling, and team effectiveness; ensure adherence to security, privacy, and operational standards; stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
