[Hiring] Software Development Manager @GetixHealth

Role Description

GetixHealth is seeking an experienced Manager of Software Development to lead and develop a Scrum-based software development team while strengthening our software delivery practices, planning processes, and overall development capabilities. This is not solely a people-management or Scrum Master position. We are looking for a leader who brings a strong software development/software engineering foundation, understands the Microsoft development ecosystem, and can effectively lead technical teams without needing to serve as the team's primary developer. A key focus of this position will be helping the development organization transition from a primarily reactive, ticket-driven environment to a more proactive, organized, measurable, and strategically aligned software delivery model.

What You'll Do

• Software Development Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a Scrum-based software development team.
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Partner closely with the Lead Developer and other technical contributors.
  • Identify staffing, technical skill, and resource needs.
  • Coach team members toward greater ownership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
• Agile/Scrum & Process Improvement
  • Strengthen the team's adoption and consistent use of Agile and Scrum practices.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Improve work intake, prioritization, estimation, capacity planning, and workflow management.
  • Help move the organization from reactive ticket fulfillment toward planned and measurable development.
  • Balance production support, technical debt, enhancements, and strategic development initiatives.
• Performance & Delivery Management
  • Establish and monitor meaningful development and delivery KPIs.
  • Measure areas such as sprint predictability, cycle time, throughput, defect trends, backlog health, and work aging.
  • Improve delivery predictability, quality, productivity, and accountability.
  • Develop realistic delivery plans based on business priorities, technical complexity, and available capacity.
  • Communicate priorities, risks, dependencies, progress, and resource constraints to stakeholders.
• Technical & Business Collaboration
  • Partner with Product, Project Management, QA, Business Analysis, Infrastructure, Security, and other stakeholders.
  • Translate organizational priorities into actionable development plans.
  • Ensure solutions align with business needs, architecture, security requirements, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical leadership within a primarily Microsoft/.NET environment.
  • Support sound technical decision-making while allowing developers to remain the hands-on technical experts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in software development, software engineering, or application delivery.
• Meaningful experience leading software developers or multidisciplinary technology teams.
• Experience managing or leading a Scrum-based software development team.
• Demonstrated experience improving Agile/Scrum practices, particularly within an organization that is still developing its Agile maturity.
• Experience establishing and utilizing KPIs, delivery metrics, and performance measures.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), release management, quality practices, and production support.
• Experience improving planning, prioritization, workflow management, and delivery predictability.
• Ability to balance immediate production/support needs with longer-term strategic development initiatives.
• Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• A flexible leadership style with the ability to adapt previous experience to the needs and culture of a new organization.

Technical Experience We're Looking For

• Strong preference will be given to candidates with hands-on knowledge and/or prior development experience with the following technologies:
  • Microsoft .NET / .NET Core
  • C#
  • T-SQL / SQL Server
  • Entity Framework
  • ASP.NET / .NET MVC
  • Angular and/or React
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • jQuery and Bootstrap
  • Azure DevOps and/or Jira
  • DevOps and CI/CD practices
  • Application security and modern software engineering practices
• The ideal candidate has enough technical depth to effectively lead developers, understand technical challenges, participate in technical discussions, evaluate development practices, and support sound engineering decisions—even though this position is not intended to be the team's primary developer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading development teams in a Microsoft technology environment.
• Experience modernizing software-development processes or increasing an organization's Agile maturity.
• Experience managing remote, distributed, or cross-functional development teams.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work-management platforms.
• Experience working in a regulated or operationally complex environment.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, application security, and modern engineering practices.
