Role Description

The Azure Storage team is chartered with building, managing, and running the persistent cloud storage for Microsoft Azure cloud. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on projects that will help support the scale of Azure Storage to the next level. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Azure Storage who is passionate about distributed storage, specifically in the areas of Index management and/or Garbage Collection for distributed systems. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
• Driving identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
• Creating, implementing, optimizing, debugging, refactoring, and reusing code to establish and improve performance and maintainability.
• Leveraging subject-matter expertise of product features and partnering with stakeholders to drive project plans and work items.
• Acting as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guiding other engineers.
• Proactively seeking new knowledge and adapting to new trends and technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience in large scale distributed systems and concurrent programming.

Benefits

• The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
• In specific locations like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
• Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
